Syrius Piano Trio
The Syrius Trio was formed in 2006. As winners of Music Network Ireland 's Young Musicwide scheme, the trio have since performed all over Ireland as well as internationally. In 2006, the trio presented an all Shostakovich programme at the Weill Hall at Carnegie in New York and in late 2008 they performed at the Musica Nova Festival for contemporary music in Brazil.
Elizabeth Cooney ( Violin ) and Jane Cords-O'Hara ( Cello )are both Irish, Bobby Chen ( Piano ) is Malaysian and all three studied at the Royal College of Music, London , the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music, London respectively. The trio are very keen advocates of new music and in 2007 they commissioned a piano trio by Ben Dywer.
The Syrius Piano Trio play Geesala Church on Sunday July 19th at 8.30pm Admission is free.
